CORNELL LAB<\/p><\/div>\n

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology<\/a> – <\/strong>Web site of the prestigious Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It contains a searchable database with information on 585 species of birds, but it\u2019s much more than that. Excellent photography and lots of information about birding for beginners and advanced birdwatchers alike.\u00a0 Downloadable bird songs and tips on bird photography, choosing optics for birdwatching, books, conservation and bird-related art. A whole world of feathery information to explore! Subscription to this excellent site is free.<\/p>\n

North American Nature Photography Association <\/a>– NANPA – \u00a0<\/strong>NANPA brings together professional nature photographers. Stated goals include the promotion of \u201cthe art and science of nature photography as a medium of communication, nature appreciation, and environmental protection.\u201d Membership requires payment. If nothing else, please check out their Principles of Ethical Field Practices<\/strong>, a one page pdf document every bird photographer should read and put into practice.<\/p>\n

Mango Verde<\/a> –\u00a0<\/strong>This is an \u201call volunteer project to create a freely accessible multimedia field guide to all of the world\u2019s bird species\u201d. Information on almost 10.000 bird species. Also offers sounds, photos and videos. As an added bonus, information and photos of dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Avibase<\/a> –\u00a0<\/strong>This multi-language website offers a plethora of information about the world\u2019s bird species. It contains \u201cover 5 million records about 10,000 species and 22,000 subspecies of birds, including distribution information, taxonomy, synonyms in several languages and more\u201d. Separate checklists of species with images for Quintana Roo<\/a> and Yucatan Peninsula<\/a>.<\/p>\n
